Avoid Houston Airport Parking and Rent a Car - Travel - EzineMark
Houston is said to be the largest city in the state of Texas, USA. This larger than life city has been witnessing a lot of growth in sector from health, to finance and of course aviation. When any sector records growth the aviation transportation grows simultaneously. There are a lot of professionals who need to travel form Houston or to Houston trough air. Travelling through air is easier that land. The major problem for people who come to Houston through air is reaching their destination. In such cases a rental car is the most widely used mode of transportation form the airport to the destination. However, what about people who travel out from Houston through air? The Houston Airport Parking or for that matter any airport parking has limited parking spaces and parking a personal car in this space can be risky.
Hiring a car that offers pick up and drop to the airport is the best option in such scenarios.
This facility is one of the most availed facilities offered by any rental car companies. The Houston Airport Parking has limited parking space. To resolve this issue there are various airport parking spaces that offer many deals for car parking but prior reservations are necessary. Also if prior reservations are not done you may end up with a car parking space that is quite far from the airport. Not to mention their cost may dig a hole in your pocket. Many car rental companies offer great offers for airport pick up and drop. But when you come across a great deal from any car agency, you need to make sure that the deal is not just hype. Make sure that you get full details and information of that offer, including the fine print before signing the rental agreement.
There are many loopholes to a great looking deal and you need to thoroughly go through all the details and the fine print of the contract.
A few things to consider
Firstly there is generally a base rent that you need to pay when you rent a car.
The mileage used should always be a part of this base rent but it is very rare that any car rental agency offers free mileage. One needs to be prepared to pay a good amount for the mileage that has been used when you finish your business with the rental car company. Get prior information on the mileage fee.The next loop hole is the extra taxes and surcharges. They add up with the different types of extra rates which you normally may not notice to become a big amount. These extra taxes and rates add up to be all most the same as any other rental car rates but you usually miss them due to the hype of advertisement.
But majorly you need to carefully check the physical condition of the car you are about to rent out. Usually these car companies have a single Mechanic Shop Houston or other areas that take care of the repairing and servicing. But almost all Mechanic Shop Houston is capable of maintaining a rental car that is safe and comfortable.
About Elite Rent A Car: Elite Rent a Car offers various car rental services with attractive offers and discounts. This company provides with the most versatile service and offers. More information can be found at http://www.eliterac.com/

Hunger Games Canon RP anyone?
Been kicking around the idea of doing a Hunger Games RP, but not in the same way as everyone else seems to be doing it. Sure, there's a lot of HG RPs around, at this site and many others, and many of them are really excellent. But most of them are based on the actual games themselves, set in a different year than Suzanne Collins' novels, with original characters. What I want to do is an actual fanzine RP, featuring Peeta, Rue, Foxface, Glimmer, etc - and, especially, Katniss of course. I don't know if the plot would focus on the actual arena, or maybe more the prep, but I just think I'd like to do something with the characters.
I'm happy to listen to suggestions and brainstorm if anyone else feels the same way. Maybe it could be set just after Peeta and Katniss' return after the 74th games? Or maybe just before the 74th Reaping? I'm open to suggestions... my pm box is open.
May the odds be ever in your favor.

Techniques of an SEO - Internet Based Business Articles
Maximize the Potential of Local SEO
Every small business owner wants his or her link to appear first when a searcher is looking for local companies online. However, it is not always easy to be one of the highest ranks links. By implementing local SEO tricks into your online marketing campaign, you should be able to drive more traffic to your company?s website and increase your sales. You can use the tips in this article to launch your local SEO campaign.
1. Double-check that your business has a listing on each major search engine. Since these sites are used by most people, you will draw the most new traffic from them. You shouldn?t neglect signing-up with small search engines, though. Although they do not have as many visitors each day as large search engines, these small sites may cater to a different audience. This is a way to reach people who may not have known about your company otherwise.
2. Make sure your company has listings with a number of online yellow-page directories, as this can greatly benefit your local SEO. You can easily find dozens of websites like this; it is important to list your company on as many as possible. There are a number of households that no longer keep a phone book, but simply use these websites instead. When people are searching for a product or service in their area, online yellow-page directories are a popular tool, so it is vital for your company to be displayed in multiple locations.
3. If your company offers a service, such as house cleaning or chimney sweeping, you should advertise on online classifieds websites. It is easy to neglect these websites when you are creating a local SEO plan, but they are a great way for companies in the service industry to increase their online presence.
4. Positive online reviews about your company are yet another great way to increase your online visibility and improve your local SEO. Asking your family and friends to write some reviews of your company and post them around the web is a great way to get started if you don?t have any online reviews yet. You can subsequently attempt to gain more online reviews by offering some sort of incentive for any customer who writes a positive critique of your company. A discount on their next purchase, for instance, is a good option.
5. If you want your website to rank more highly on local searches, there are a number of methods you can implement. You should, for instance, make sure that your company?s address, email, and phone number are clearly displayed on every page of your website. Additionally, make sure you are regularly updating the content that appears on your site. Search engines will often display the most recently updated websites first.
Local SEO is an essential component to a successful online marketing plan for any small business. If you are struggling with effectively implementing local SEO techniques, you may want to consider hiring a professional to help you navigate the process.

Lunch-goers by the hundreds bust a move in Sweden

STOCKHOLM (AP) ? Some workers in Sweden have found a rather offbeat way to spend their lunch hour. Actually, on-beat is more like it.
Dripping with sweat and awash in disco lights, they dance away to pulsating club music at Lunch Beat, a trend that started in Stockholm and is spreading to other cities in Europe.
Then they go back to work.
"It is absolutely fantastic!" exclaimed Asa Andersson, 33, who broke away from her job at a coffee shop to bust some moves last week. "It is the first time I'm here, I'm totally happy and ecstatic, totally covered in sweat and I'm full of energy. It does not get any better than this."
The first Lunch Beat was held in June 2010 in an underground parking lot in Stockholm. Only 14 people showed up. But they had so much fun they immediately planned another event. Word spread, and now the Swedish capital has monthly Lunch Beats that attract hundreds.
Similar events have been held in at least 10 other Swedish cities and in Finland and Serbia. Portugal's first try will be in Porto next month, organizers said.
The party starts at noon and goes on for one hour. There's no alcohol, which gives it a different ambiance than nighttime clubbing, said Daniel Odelstad, the 31-year-old organizer of Lunch Beat Stockholm.
"People are sober, it's in the middle of the day and it is very short, effective and intensive," he said. "You just have to get in there and dance because the hour ends pretty quickly."
Heeding that advice, nearly 500 people paid 100 kronor ($14) to attend at Kulturhuset, a cultural center in downtown Stockholm.
Anyone can organize a Lunch Beat event as long as they follow some simple rules, Odelstad said.
"The first rule of Lunch Beat is that you have to dance," he said while checking prepaid tickets at the door. "If you don't want to dance during your lunch hour, then you should eat your lunch somewhere else."
The events are not-for-profit, with cover charges being used for rent and sandwiches so dancers don't return to work hungry.
Some first-time visitors were amazed at how quickly typically reserved Swedes burst out of their shells. As the DJ pumped up the base, office clerks mingled with business-suit types, the young mixed it up with the middle-aged and university students danced with everyone.
"It was just like bang, straight in to the disco," said Kristoffer Svenberg, a 34-year-old artist.
But isn't it uncomfortable returning to an office after an hour of dancing? European workers, a tad more relaxed than Americans, say not at all.
Ellen Bengtsson, 29, came to Lunch Beat with more than a dozen people from a government office.
"It's great," she said. "We'll go back sweaty together."

HDTV Magazine - HDTV Almanac - Online Streaming Grows
As reported by Jim O?Neil in Fierce Online Video, the Roku CEO Anthony Wood gave a keynote address at the OTTCon in San Jose, California, last week. Wood is quoted as making several noteworthy remarks (and I recommend that you read the whole article), but the part that jumped out at me was this:
As the number of channels grow?there are almost 500 on Roku now and a new one is being launched almost every day?viewing has [to] grow. Roku has seen its viewing time increase from six hours a week to 12. And I think it?s going to continue growing until it reaches 35 hours, the average that viewers watch today.
Let me repeat that with emphasis: 500 channels on Roku. Tell me again what you?re missing if you cancel your cable subscription? Actually, I know the answer; major channels such as ESPN and some of the premium channels offer programming that cannot (yet) be matched online. But when people are watching as many hours of over-the-top streaming video as they currently watch of the linear broadcast content, don?t you think that the ESPNs and HBOs of the traditional media might take notice? Clearly, they already are aware and are deep into their own experiments into Internet streaming for their content.
Oh, and HBO Go is indeed one of those 500 channels on Roku already. If I were running a cable or satellite television service, I?d be trying hard to figure out what I?m going to do when my current business falls apart.

'Hunger Games' Star Liam Hemsworth: What's Next?
Two films with Dwayne Johnson, a Vietnam War romance and 'The Expendables 2' are in the Aussie actor's future.
By Fallon Prinzivalli

With "The Hunger Games" slaughtering its competition at the box office this past weekend, everyone's eyes are locked on the movie's three main stars to see what's next. For those of you who loved Liam Hemsworth's short but sweet scenes as Katniss Everdeen's best friend, Gale, you're in luck.
While we're sure the Aussie actor is enjoying the benefits of working hard on the film, he's not sitting around waiting to film the sequel. He has quite a few other films in the works. Here are a few things to look forward to from the youngest Hemsworth brother.
First on the list is his role as Bill "the Kid" Timmons, the newest addition to Sylvester Stallone's team, in "The Expendables 2." Mr. Church, played by Bruce Willis, enlists the Expendables for a job that seems like an easy paycheck. But when a member of the crew is brutally murdered, the Expendables seek revenge and find themselves on enemy turf with an unexpected threat looming over their heads. Also returning to the movie are Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture and Terry Crews. Yu Nan joins Hemsworth as another of the team's newcomers in the film, which is set to release on August 17.
After watching Hemsworth battle it out in that action flick, you can catch him in a different type of warring film titled "AWOL." Based on a true story, the film follows a young Vietnam soldier who returns home to the States in search of his newly ex-girlfriend. Austin Stowell plays the broken-hearted soldier, Joiner, and Aimee Teegarden plays Juniper, his high school sweetheart. Hemsworth stars as Joiner's best friend, Wright, who accompanies him on the risky journey. The backdrop of the film, which will be released later this year, is the anti-war movement at the University of Michigan.
Josh Hutcherson isn't the only 'Hunger Games' actor who may be working with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. Next year, Hemsworth will star alongside the wrestler-turned-actor in "Empire State." Also based on a true story, the movie follows a plan set in motion by two childhood friends (one of whom will be played by Hemsworth) to rob an armored car depository. Johnson plays an NYPD officer who attempts to stop the cash heist, and Emma Roberts joins the cast as a waitress who takes interest in Hemsworth's character.
Then, in 2014, Johnson and Hemsworth will reunite for "Arabian Nights." The tale weaves together some of our favorite adventures as a young commander named Ali Baba (Hemsworth) teams up with Sinbad (Johnson), Aladdin and Aladdin's genie in order to rescue Scheherazade and her kingdom from the dark forces of a sorcerer.
And, of course, you will see Hemsworth reprise his role as Gale Hawthorne in the November 22, 2013, release of "Catching Fire." Gale will be in the picture more often this time around, and we're excited to see how Hemsworth develops the character.
Check out everything we've got on "The Hunger Games."

Sell Your House Faster with These Home Improvement Tips ...
We tend to feel the best way to get a handle on CatGenie reviews is by having a realistic perspective. It is easy to look at others who are where you want to be and have negative feelings, but just try to avoid that because there was a time when they were just like you.
There is a continuity that always seems to exist, and you and us are just part of that tradition. The bottom line is that sometimes you just do not know what is inside a piece of content that could be tremendously useful. Challenges to your forward movement can always be present, it just depends, and that is when a wide base of knowledge can be very helpful.
If you are confident, then there will just be less that will intimidate you.
When you are ready to sell the house, taking inventory of which repairs, improvements and remodels need to be made is always a good idea. When possible buyers look at your home, they are likely to notice anything that?s out of date, broken or messy. In this article we?re going to look at a few of the things home sellers can do that are going to make it a lot easier to sell your home at your asking price.
It is really important to ensure that when a potential buyer is looking at your home that their first impression of the place is a great one. This has so much to do with the ?curb appeal? of your home and even the littler details can be a part of this. The condition of your front door, to use one example, plays a huge role in the way people are going to think and feel about your home. This means that your front door deserves a thorough cleaning or even a new coating of paint.
You also need to make sure that your front lawn, if you?ve got one, is kept up nicely. The fencing or gating around your home needs to be in tip top shape as well and not in need of repairs or painting. Keep your windows clean as well. All of these factors add up to give the potential buyer the kind of impression you want to make.
As you prepare to put your home on the market, do not go out and by state of the art gadgets for it. In the end, you will usually not be able to find a way to rationalize the out-of-pocket expenses as these will not add enough additional value to your home. This takes in things like hot tubs and swimming pools because a lot of individuals consider them to be extra comfort items. This even applies to things that are outside of your home, such as a Koi pond or fountain or luxurious landscaping. It is fine if you already have some of these things in your home, although you do not want to rush out to buy them in hopes that they will help you sell your home. These days, with everyone being so money conscious, people deem these as objects that up the cost of the home. More and more individuals who are in the market to buy a home are not interested in places that have extras like swimming pools, hot tubs and spas, as these are expensive to maintain.
So many people are concerned with home security. If your home is not already equipped with a security system, you should seriously consider having one put in. This may include an alarm as well as security cameras. This is something that you will have to give a lot of thought to, though. Depending on the neighborhood in which you live, people who are considering buying your house might be really impressed that the house has a state of the art security system already installed. Of course, it could do the opposite too and accidentally imply that your neighborhood is not a safe one. The best approach here is one that is in the middle; put in a good security system but don?t stress its inclusion or stress it a lot when you want to show your house.
It makes a lot of sense to make sure that your house is in the absolute best condition it can be in when you want to show it to potential buyers. You do not want your potential buyers to have to use their imaginations to see how it can look after it has been repaired, painted and cleaned up. Most buyers want the house to be as close to perfect as possible. Still, you need to take all of these guidelines under consideration before you try to do any big home improvement projects.

Pirate radio DJ 'leaves wake' | Entertainment | London Free Press
Tom Lodge, the former Londoner who was a real-life "Pirate Radio" DJ off Britain's shore in the 1960s, has died in California.
Lodge had been battling cancer and died Sunday at the age of 75. That was 46 years to the day after he was whisked off the Radio Caroline broadcast ship to interview the Beatles in an exclusive session at London, England.
It was one history-making moment in many for Lodge, who knew many of the British Invasion rock-and-roll stars, broke hit records in Britain and St. Thomas, ran a drop-in centre in London, helped start the Fanshawe music industry arts (MIA) program and later studied Zen.
Ex-Beatle Sir Paul McCartney once said Lodge should get a knighthood for his work in getting the British Invasion bands on the air, Lodge's former dean at Fanshawe recalled Monday.
"He was the energy behind it. He was the idea man. He was the catalyst," London artist and retired Fanshawe dean of the faculty of arts Eric Atkinson said of Lodge's role in the founding of the MIA program, "I'll miss him enormously."
Family and friends were mourning Lodge and celebrating his life on Facebook and other social media on Monday.
The British-born Lodge first came to Canada in the early 1950s. After other jobs, Lodge joined CBC Radio as an announcer, became a station manager and then returned to Britain as a correspondent. He took a job as a disc jockey and program director on Radio Caroline, the pirate radio station broadcasting rock and roll hits from a ship that operated off the coast of Britain to dodge the BBC's monopoly.
After Radio Caroline was shut down, Lodge found his way back to Canada, working for a time at the old CHLO-AM radio station in St. Thomas. He continued to break hit records there, giving bands such as Creedence Clearwater Revival a first shot at Canadian airplay.
Over its label's objections, Lodge played CCR's Suzie Q on CHLO after buying the record in Detroit. The label had not released the song in Canada. "They didn't want it out," he said in a Free Press interview about a decade ago. "I told them, 'I'm going to play this record. You better release it.' "
Lodge published several versions of his pirate radio days. A Free Press critic said The Ship That Rocked The World, the 2010 edition, is the one to get.
Radio Caroline and Lodge's story loosely inspired the comedy flick Pirate Radio.
In the mid-1970s, Lodge moved to California where he began practising Zen.
Tom Maguire, a London musician and longtime friend, looked to Radio Caroline for an image about him.
"He did leave a wake in his passing," Maguire said.

Tips for home improvement | Landscaping
Everyone has experienced at time when one has wanted to change the look of his/her home but is too clueless to find a starting point because of the enormity of the project. You might have been bored with the house looking the same but do not know how to go about altering it in a cost effective manner. When thinking about home improvements, many are apprehensive about the amount it might cost them, and ultimately shrink away. However, with some planning and imagination, home improvements can be done with minimal costs, with glowing results.
If you are thinking of re-decorating rooms, then there is much that can be done with just some rearrangements. Firstly, determine the purpose of the room. What has the room been used for so far? Would you like to change the feel of the room so as to fix its function? A room that has till now only been a vague living/sitting space can be converted to a ?family? room.
Transform it according to your family. If you have young children, put a lot of huge soft cushions for them to play around. You can use brightly colored covers. If you have a television here, try mounting it on a wall so that it does get damaged when the kids are horsing around. Put a rug as well on the floor. The whole feel of the room will become warm and welcoming for children and their friends. If your budget allows you, you can try painting the walls in warm colors like pale orange or brown too.
Kitchens are one place that we think of altering very frequently. This is probably because we spend a lot of time there, especially if the dining area is connected to it. One of the major changes that can be done here is changing the cabinets. Cabinets have the capacity to start looking stolid too soon. If the entire cabinet area cannot be changed, you can try just painting its doors, and you will see an immediate transformation. Adding extra drawers or shelves will also increase your space, giving you room on the counter for more working area.
Lighting also creates dramatic effects. Consider adding or changing the placement of lights at your home. If you have any pictures or paintings, put a soft focus light above them to emphasize them. You can soften a room by adding a lamp or two with a low intensity bulb. Get lighting that can be twisted around to focus on the area where you are working.
One instant and inexpensive way of perking up the look of an area is putting plants. You can pick from a variety of indoor plants. For a functional area that has much furniture or where you need a moving space, pick plants that do not have many leaves or branches. It should be straight growing. If you want to fill in a space, pick leafy plants. Either way, a warm feeling will enter your home.
Instead of changing windows entirely, replace your plain glass with tinted or stained glass. The colors that filter in along with sunlight will drastically brighten up any room. Team this up with striking curtains to complete the look.
In these ways, big changes can be made with little investment to your home d?cor resulting in stylish and beautiful living spaces.

59 code violations at Columbia University
Michael Schwartz for New York Daily News
Scene at W. 131st St. construction site where one worker was fatally injured and two were hurt badly on March 22.
THE TRAGIC death of a hardhat who was demolishing a building owned by Columbia University came after the school and its contractors racked up a slew of safety complaints, the Daily News has found.
The Ivy League institution has been hit with 59 code violations and has been forced to shut down work 13 times since launching its controversial campus expansion two years ago, building records show.
The complaints were spread across the 64 properties located on the 17-acre site, which runs from 125th to 133rd Sts., and between 12th Ave. and Broadway.
Workers were flagged for everything from improperly removing fire sprinklers to blocking fire exits and failing to shore up listing walls, the records show.
In fact, as city inspectors picked through the ruins of the warehouse on W. 131st St. where 69-year-old Juan Ruiz was killed Thursday, a tipster warned that a wall on another Columbia-owned building a block away was close to giving way, The News has learned.
Columbia spokeswoman Victoria Benitez declined to discuss the deadly collapse or the prior violations, citing the ongoing Buildings Department probe.
?Their official determination of the facts is an essential step in the process,? she said.
Ruiz ? and the two workers who survived the building collapse ? were employed by Breeze National, a Brooklyn-based outfit that was headed for years by Luchese crime family associate Toby Romano. Breeze officials say his son now runs the company.
City inspectors suspect the collapse was caused when a worker sliced through a support beam.
Breeze, however, said that horizontal beam was spliced to another beam. And it was the bolts connecting the two pieces that failed.
Ruiz was the second worker to die during construction of Columbia?s new $6.4 billion campus.
Jozef Wilk, a 51-year-old Polish immigrant who also worked for Breeze, fell to his death while demolishing another Columbia-owned building on Broadway.
King Range, 60, and Sakim Kirby, 30, the two workers who survived the collapse that killed Ruiz, were both in stable condition at St. Luke?s Hospital.
Kirby?s dad said his son is in a lot of pain.
?It?s surreal,? he said. ?I want to know what happened and who is responsible for what happened to my son.?

Why Ryan's budget is music to Democrat's ears
Paul Ryan may not have intended it, but his 2013 budget is the strongest argument I?ve seen for why any serious fiscal plan must include new revenues.
Paul Ryan may not have intended it, but his 2013 budget is the strongest argument I?ve seen for why any serious fiscal plan must include new revenues. It?s far more convincing than partisan Democratic complaints.
Skip to next paragraph Howard GleckmanHoward Gleckman is a resident fellow at The Urban-Brookings Tax Policy Center, the author of Caring for Our Parents, and former senior correspondent in the Washington bureau of Business Week. (http://taxvox.taxpolicycenter.org)

Ryan says he wants to balance the budget only by cutting spending. But he proved with hard, relatively specific numbers (on the spending side, at least) that he can?t get there from here. And if you take the second page from the Republican hymnal and add huge tax cuts to the mix, you may find yourself headed off in just the wrong fiscal direction.
Ryan?s fiscal math work only works with rapid, historic changes in government?something Congress doesn?t do well and the public struggles to accept (health reform anyone?). It would force Republicans to make one career-killing vote after another. Tea-partiers might rejoice, but there is stuff in this budget that is political death for senators and any House members running in swing districts.
Let?s look a few:
Medicare. Ryan?s budget includes a version of the premium support plan he designed with Democratic Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR). But while a system where seniors get subsidies to buy health insurance on the private market might make economic sense, it is wildly unpopular. Some surveys show 70 percent ?of those asked favor the current system.
According to the Congressional Budget Office, Ryan would dramatically cut federal spending for new enrollees over time.? It figures that by 2050 the federal share of Medicare costs would be 42 percent lower under the Ryan plan than under CBO?s best guess of the future path of Medicare spending. ?In that year, CBO expects the feds would spend $19,100 in 2011 dollars on a typical 67-year-old. But it would spend only $11,100 under the Ryan plan. That suggests seniors would pay a lot more even if medical care becomes more efficient.
Medicaid: Compared to 2011, Ryan would cut other federal health spending (for Medicaid, the children?s health insurance program, and subsidies under the 2010 health law) in half from 2011 levels by 2050 (measured as a share of Gross Domestic Product). ?Compared to CBO?s best guess of the path of spending, that?s a 75 percent cut.
Everything else: Ryan would reduce spending for the rest of the federal government from 12.5 percent of GDP in 2011 to 3.75 percent by 2050. CBO estimates spending for these programs has never been lower than 8 percent at any time since World War II. Defense spending is 4.6 percent of GDP today and CBO notes it has never fallen below 3 percent during that period.
This implies Ryan and the GOP would either have to support unprecedented cuts in the Pentagon budget or leave almost no money for everything else the federal government does?highways, air traffic control, national parks, food safety, farm subsidies, and the like. Tough to imagine.
And for all of that, it still would take Ryan two decades to balance the budget.
Then, there are taxes. As TPC showed in its analysis of the tax provisions of the Ryan budget, he has dug for himself a fiscal hole of Grand Canyon proportions. He?d cut taxes by $4.6 trillion over 10 years, on top of the $5.4 trillion in revenue the government loses after he permanently extends the 2001/2003 tax cuts. To pay for those tax cuts, he?d either have to slash big, politically popular tax preferences such as the mortgage interest deduction or find even more spending to cut.
So the lesson from Ryan budget is clear: It is not possible in any political universe most of us reognize to cut spending like this budget implies. Of course, Ryan is a smart guy who knows this very well. So maybe he intended to send this message after all.

Jets, Broncos complete trade for QB Tim Tebow
NEW YORK (AP) ? Tim Tebow is coming to New York. Really.
After a big false start, the New York Jets pulled off a Tebow-like comeback Wednesday night, getting the quarterback who turned the Denver Broncos from an also-ran into a playoff team last season and became the NFL's most talked-about player ? for a fourth- and sixth-round draft pick.
Now, Tebowmania is opening on Broadway.
Eight hours after initially agreeing to a deal, the teams completed the trade that was hung up when the Jets apparently balked at repaying Denver more than $5 million for a salary advance due Tebow. The two sides agreed to split that cost, and Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum said the team was "comfortable with the compensation."
He said there was a disagreement about how to handle the salary advance after Denver received the papers.
"We knew what the contract was," he said. "We had read it."
Despite ultimately pulling off the deal for Tebow, it's just another bizarre moment for the Jets, a team that has had its share of them over the years, conjuring memories of Bill Belichick's hiring as coach and his resignation one day later.
Just a few weeks after "Linsanity" swept the area and the rest of the NBA with the Knicks' sensational Jeremy Lin, "Timsanity" now will take over New York.
"You've got a tough player on the field, a leader in the locker room and a guy who shares the faith that I share," Jets defensive end Mike DeVito said. "So, I'm very grateful to have him on our team, and I feel it's going to really benefit us as a whole."
But not everyone's a fan.
Another teammate, cornerback Antonio Cromartie, took to Twitter on Wednesday to express his confidence in Sanchez and the offense as structured before the deal.
"Y bring Tebow in when we need to bring in more Weapons for (at)Mark_Sanchez," Cromartie tweeted. "Let's build the team around him. We already signed to 3 year ext."
But in a conference call Wednesday night, Tannenbaum emphasized that the team is committed to Sanchez.
"Mark Sanchez is, has been and will be our starting quarterback," he said.
The Jets signed Drew Stanton last week to be their No. 2 quarterback, ahead of Greg McElroy, the team's seventh-round draft pick last year. Tannenbaum said Wednesday night that Tebow will be the No. 2 QB. The Jets haven't ruled out carrying 4 quarterbacks and will assess that in the coming weeks.
Hall of Fame quarterback Joe Namath, who led the Jets to their only Super Bowl title in 1969, didn't need time to offer his assessment, weighing in before the deal was even done.
"I'm just sorry that I can't agree with this situation. I think it's just a publicity stunt. I can't go with it. I think it's wrong," Namath told 1050 ESPN Radio on Wednesday. "I don't think they know what they're doing over there."
The effect Tebow's presence will have on Sanchez remains to be seen. The Jets appear to be committed to him financially as their starter for at least the next two years, but a restless fan base that got down on Sanchez as he struggled late last season could call for Tebow to take over at the first sign of trouble.
Two minutes after the Jets initially posted the trade ? in which they'll get a seventh-round pick in 2012 ? on its Facebook page, there were 874 "likes," 366 comments and 247 shares. Most of the comments ran along the lines of: "I might cry" and "He is not welcome here, another terrible decision."
The Jets certainly will have lots of explaining to do: Where was the misunderstanding? Who didn't read the fine print? Why did the Jets announce the trade on its site and Facebook page before it was completely done?
Sure, they got headlines and were the talk of sports radio ? even on a day when the New Orleans Saints received unprecedented punishment from the NFL for a bounty system that rocked the football world. Head coach Sean Payton was suspended without pay for next season, and former defensive coordinator Greg Williams, now with St. Louis, was banned indefinitely.
But even all that couldn't overshadow another embarrassing episode for a franchise that has had to explain away several missteps in recent years.
The Jets are hoping Tebow can help change all that.
Tebow led the Broncos to the playoffs last season ? along the way beating Sanchez and the Jets, who missed the postseason. But Denver executive John Elway believed Manning gave the team a better chance at winning a championship now.
For the Jets, Tebow adds a unique dimension to the offense, including running the team's wildcat package ? something new offensive coordinator Tony Sparano enjoys using. He also provides a solid presence in a locker room that was rife with infighting last season ? particularly between Sanchez and wide receiver Santonio Holmes.
He also brings with him a flock of fervent fans for reasons that have to do as much with his faith as his football skills. A devout Christian, he's been a role model since his days at Florida, when he led the Gators to two national titles and captured the Heisman Trophy.
Denver started shopping Tebow after signing Peyton Manning, and the Jets were considered a long shot as late as Tuesday night. But New York went hard after Tebow, envisioning him as a versatile complement to starter Mark Sanchez, who received a $40.5 million contract extension, with $20.5 million guaranteed, earlier this month. The Jets also had pursued Manning, but fell out of that race early when there wasn't mutual interest.
As part of Tebow's $11.25 million, five-year contract he signed as a rookie in 2010, he had a $6.277 million advance due 29 days after the start of the 2011 league year. That money was paid to him in August after the NFL lockout ended. The trade stalled over the payment the Jets would owe the Broncos from that advance.
That allowed Jacksonville to get back into the hunt, and it came down to the Jaguars and Jets.
"I think we have a duty to consider all avenues of improving the Jaguars on and off the field, especially given the unique circumstances involving the player," Jaguars owner Shad Khan said in a statement. "I am very satisfied with the outcome."
On Tuesday, Sanchez spoke highly of both Tebow and Manning on Fox Sports Radio in Los Angeles.
"I think Peyton is going to do great, and I think Tim is going to do great no matter what happens," Sanchez said on "The Petros & Money Show." ''He can learn from one of the best quarterbacks to ever play or he moves on somewhere else and uses his skills at another ball club. He definitely has talent. He knows how to win. He knows how to impact players, so both guys are really in a good situation. It'll work out for both of them."
Tebow's days were numbered in Denver when Manning chose the Broncos as his next destination. They are two entirely different quarterbacks and it made little sense to keep Tebow as a backup because the Broncos were going to have a vastly different offense under Manning, one of the most precise passers in league history.
Elway and Fox called Tebow on Monday night to tell him it was possible he would be traded.
Elway said he wanted to do right by Tebow, who took over a 1-4 team and led the Broncos to the AFC West title and a playoff win over Pittsburgh.
"As a former player, I know the last two weeks were not easy for Tim," Elway said in a statement. "He was put in a difficult situation, and I commend him for how he handled it with the same first-class manner he displayed throughout his career in Denver."

Court sides with property owners over EPA
WASHINGTON (AP) ? The Supreme Court ruled unanimously Wednesday that property owners have a right to prompt review by a judge of an important tool used by the Environmental Protection Agency to address water pollution.
The court sided with an Idaho couple who object to an EPA order that blocked construction of their new home near a scenic lake and threatened fines of more than $30,000 a day.
Wednesday's decision is a victory for Mike and Chantell Sackett, whose property near Priest Lake has sat undisturbed since the EPA ordered a halt in work in 2007. The agency said part of the property was a wetlands that could not disturbed without a permit.
In an opinion by Justice Antonin Scalia, the court rejected EPA's argument that allowing property owners quick access to courts to contest orders like the one issued to the Sacketts would compromise the agency's ability to deal with water pollution.
"Compliance orders will remain an effective means of securing prompt voluntary compliance in those many cases where there is no substantial basis to question their validity," Scalia said.
In this case, the couple contested the determination that their small lot contained wetlands that are regulated by the Clean Water Act, and they complained there was no reasonable way to challenge the order without risking fines that can mount quickly.
Scalia, reading a summary of his opinion in court, noted that the Sacketts have never "seen a ship or other vessel cross their yard."
The Sacketts now will be able to argue in federal court that their land should not be subject to EPA regulation, said their lawyer, Damien Schiff.
The EPA issues nearly 3,000 administrative compliance orders a year that call on alleged violators of environmental laws to stop what they're doing and repair the harm they've caused. Major business groups, homebuilders, road builders and agricultural interests all joined the Sacketts in urging the court to make it easier to contest EPA compliance orders issued under several environmental laws.
Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg said in a separate opinion that the only issue decided by the court Wednesday is the Sacketts' ability to contest the EPA finding that their property is subject to the Clean Water Act. The court did not decide larger issues, Ginsburg said.
"On that understanding, I join the court's opinion," she said.
In another separate opinion, Justice Samuel Alito called on Congress to clear up confusion over the reach of the Clean Water Act. Alito said that federal regulators could assert authority over any property that is wet for even part of the year, not just rivers and streams.
The court's opinion "is better than nothing, but only clarification of the reach of the Clean Water Act can rectify the underlying problem," Alito said.
In 2005, the Sacketts paid $23,000 for a .63-acre lot near scenic Priest Lake. They decided to start building a modest, three-bedroom home early in 2007.
They had filled part of the property with rocks and soil, in preparation for construction, when federal officials showed up and ordered a halt in the work.
In a statement, the Sacketts praised the court for "affirming that we have rights, and that the EPA is not a law unto itself."
The Natural Resources Defense Council, which sided with EPA in this case, said the decision was relatively narrow. The court "did not open the Clean Water Act up to abuse by polluters by gutting EPA's ability to issue these orders. And it didn't question their validity," said Jon Devine, a senior attorney at NRDC.
The case is Sackett v. EPA, 10-1062.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) ? Paul Millsap scored 20 points, Al Jefferson had 16 and Devin Harris added 15 to lead the Utah Jazz to their fourth straight victory, 97-90 over the Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday night.
Millsap had a dunk and a fallaway jumper to help the Jazz finish the game on a 10-4 run.
Russell Westbrook had 23 points for Oklahoma City, and Kevin Durant had 18, but went scoreless in the fourth quarter and misfired on all seven attempts from the field in the period.
James Harden added 17 points for the Thunder, who have lost four of their last seven games. The NBA's most efficient offense went 6 of 21 in the fourth quarter and committed 20 turnovers in the game.
After Derrick Favors made two free throws for an 85-77 Utah edge, Westbrook made two 3-pointers and a pair of foul shots to power a 9-2 run and cut Utah's lead to 87-86 with 2:56 to play.
Jamaal Tinsley scored nine points in 9 minutes and Utah's reserves turned a deficit into an eight-point lead during the second quarter. The Jazz led 52-44 at the half on the strength of 11 forced turnovers.
Utah extended the advantage to 14 in the third quarter. Harris scored 13 straight points for the Jazz and opened the middle for Millsap and Jefferson to operate.
Oklahoma City's Serge Ibaka and Harden hit several wide-open jumpers as Utah's big men hurried to help stop the drives of Durant and Westbrook to get the Thunder back within striking distance.
The Jazz have won six straight games at home and looked nothing like the team that lost two games within a week in mid-February to Oklahoma City by an average of 20 points.
After a string of five consecutive losses to Oklahoma City and looking outmanned by the Thunder's length and quickness, Utah employed a scrambling, helping defense that forced difficult shots and bad passes.
The Jazz outscored the Thunder 50-20 in the paint and moved a step closer to reaching the playoffs. Utah is ninth in the Western Conference, a half-game behind Houston for the last spot.
After an MRI earlier Tuesday, the Jazz learned that starting forward Josh Howard's knee might require surgery and he could be lost for the season. Howard said he might seek a second opinion.
Notes: Utah guards Raja Bell (strained left adductor) and Earl Watson (sprained left ankle) sat out. ... Oklahoma City's Daequan Cook limped off with a right knee sprain early in the fourth quarter and did not return. ... Tinsley dribbled the ball through Mohammed's legs and tossed in a floater in the fourth quarter.
